Society and Membership
In 1968, the Christian Senior Citizens Homes Society of Northern Alberta ("the Society") was registered as a charitable non-profit society under Alberta's Society Act legislation. Since then, society members and the Reformed Christian community of Edmonton and area have enabled Emmanuel Home to provide quality living accommodations and care to the seniors in our community.
Today, the society boasts close to 1000 members. These members pay annual dues of $20 per person or $30 per married couple. In addition, our society members and their organizations have a long history of supporting Emmanuel Home through financial donations, volunteer hours, gifts-in-kind, and prayers.
The society meets twice a year, usually in April and November. At the November 24, 2011 society meeting, the board introduced several proposed changes to the bylaws. Most of the proposed revisions are of a housekeeping nature but there is one of significance: to revert to a single annual meeting -- as it was in the early years of the society -- rather than semi-annual meetings.
